In a large bowl add the dry ingredients and mix.
Melt the butter or vegan spread in a pan along with the syrup.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix until combined.
Grease a baking tray and add a scoop of the mixture and flatten. Alternatively place a small sized round cutter on the tray and add a tbs of the mixture into the round cutter and pat with your fingers. Gently lift the cutter to get the round shape. You might find the mixture is crumbly- you can also use your hands to make into a round ball and flatten.
Bake the cookies in the oven for about 15 minutes, until golden. They will become hard once cooled.
Dip half the cookies in melted chocolate of your choice, allow to set and keep in an air tight container.
